Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing for Patagonian toothfish has been reduced by about 95% since peak levels in the 1990s. Now, IUU fishing for toothfish is restricted to the high seas and the majority of this is taken by gillnet and targets Antarctic toothfish.
