Austral commissions new toothfish vessel

COLTO Member, Austral Fisheries has entered into an agreement with Båtbygg AS in Norway for the construction of a SK-4260 fishing vessel designed by Skipskompetanse. The vessel, Cape Arkona, combines auto-line, potting and trawling and will set new standards for multi-purpose fishing operations.

In line with Austral’s sustainability commitment, emphasis has been put on environmentally friendly and future-oriented solutions. The vessel will have the following main data:

  • LOA: 66.9m
  • Breadth: 15m
  • Class: Bureau Veritas I  * Hull  * Mach, Fishing Vessel, Unrestricted Navigation, AUT-UMS, AVM-APS, ICE IC, MON-SHAFT
  • Accommodation: 40 persons
  • Power ME: 3000KW (total)
  • Loading capacity: 1200m3
  • Tailored Father-Son hybrid propulsion solution with triple redundancy
  • Electric trawl winches
  • Prepared for SCR to comply with future IMO Tier III requirements
  • 35-40 dB reduction in exhaust noise for crew comfort
  • Dedicated space for future battery installation

The vessel will be built at Baatbygg yard in Raudeberg, Måløy, and is expected to be delivered by April 2020.
